Solutions-focus leads to quick identification and resolution of design issues.

Pak’nSave Westgate in Massey North, Auckland, is a new 6,000m² supermarket, built over 8,000m² of new basement car parking, along with a petrol station and retaining walls on a challenging sloping site.

Naylor Love’s non-confrontational philosophy and our determination to help find solutions led to quick resolutions to a number of design problems that were identified during the build, including concerns about the retaining wall to Fred Taylor Drive and the composition of the lift pits. We also initiated a re-design of the ramp structure to overcome lead-time issues created by the late handover of the Rua Road access way.

Our understanding that finished floor quality is a prime consideration for the client led to us initiating a design review and enhancement of the topping concrete, which helped to achieve a very high standard for the suspended concrete floor finishes.

The completed supermarket and petrol station have been well received by the Massey community, and the client was particularly pleased with Naylor Love’s quality, commitment to buildability, and communication.
