A complex restaurant project delivered on time for a top hospitality client.
Naylor Love has completed a number of projects for SkyCity in Auckland, including the construction and fitout of Masu Japanese Restaurant.
Masu is located in the lobby of the five-star Grand Hotel, right next to the entrance of the Convention Centre, so there was considerable pressure on the team to deliver a high quality result while maintaining a low profile to hotel guests and convention centre users.
After the existing Lobby Bar and part of the Convention Centre entrance were demolished and stripped out, a structural steel frame was installed for the suspension of the ceiling and services, and the fitout began in earnest. The new restaurant features a majestic curved dining room with low slung ceilings and an open charcoal robata grill, a bar, private dining room and open plan kitchen.
A complex build, with both noise and time constraints, Masu was successfully opened right on time. It has since won a number of prestigious awards both for its food and the build!
