When it comes to concrete, it never rains (hopefully!) – it pours. And it sure did on the 22nd July at Huia Pool.
The construction project, which will see the complex double in size with new learn to swim and hydrotherapy pools, reached a special milestone with the pouring of the raft slab.
2861M³ of soil was excavated, 45 tonnes of reinforcing steel was placed in the footing, and 108 concrete trucks poured a total of 629.7M³ of concrete with two pumps.
The team were working from 5am, aiming to be complete by 4pm. Come 2pm the last full truck of concrete was emptied into the footing to complete the pour, leaving time to eat a slice or two of pizza.
Big thanks to Aardvark Concrete Services, Allmacks Concrete Services and Allied Concrete for helping to make this major pour go so well.
