Over a 12-month period in 2007 and 2008, our Wellington team demolished part of the existing building at Boulcott Hospital and it replaced with a new two-storey ward block.

The new block contained a day stay facility, pre-op facility, utility and reception area on the ground floor, and a further reception and office area plus eight bedrooms on the first floor.

Work also included the construction of a new operating theatre with adjacent gas cylinder store and vacuum pumps, extending and upgrading the kitchen, and installation of a new access ramp.

We also strengthened and refurbished various areas of the existing building, including the administration block, ward areas, endoscopy, recovery and staff changing rooms, and installed and upgraded the services throughout the hospital, including medical gases, a two-stop lift and an EWIS (emergency warning and intercom system).

Boulcott Hospital remained open throughout the project, and the discovery of structural issues with the existing building required some quick thinking and significant remedial works. The client was very pleased with their modern new facilities.
