Our Naylor Love Central Otago team of pool specialists flew north to complete the Selwyn Aquatic Centre in Rolleston.

The pool complex consists of an eight-lane 25m lap pool, hydrotherapy pool with spa, learners’ pool and a leisure pool, including a lazy river. The amenities block contains a reception foyer, change rooms and staff facilities.

The structure is a mix of insitu concrete, precast concrete, block work, structural steel, aluminium joinery, and various claddings including Kingspan panels.

Services coordination was a crucial element of the project, requiring extensive management to ensure that fire, data, audiovisual, security and electrical cable runs were well planned and well executed.

Sustainability was another key aspect of this project, with state-of-the-art heat recovery, air circulation and filtration systems complemented by advanced energy efficiency monitoring systems.

The client was thrilled with the new pool, and particularly praised Naylor Love’s teamwork and communication, and their willingness to “go the extra mile”. The same team went on to successfully complete the EA Networks Leisure Centre in Ashburton. Naylor Love were also responsible for earlier successful aquatic centre projects, including Alpine Aqualand in Queenstown, Dudley Park Aquatic Centre in Rangiora, Moana Pool diving and leisure pool extensions in Dunedin, the Centennial Pool redevelopment in Christchurch, St Clair Hot Salt Water Pool redevelopment in Dunedin, and Splash Palace in Invercargill.

Council would have no hesitation in recommending the Naylor Love team for future projects and would be happy to work with them again should an opportunity arise.
