2026 Building People Awards
Wellington BIM Manager Michael De Fazio was Highly Commended in the Digital Technology category at the Building Institute Aotearoa Building People Awards.
Our Wellington BIM Manager Michael De Fazio and the Hnry Stadium project team picked up a Highly Commended award in the Digital Technology category at the Building Institute Aotearoa Building People Awards earlier this month.
In Michael’s absence, the award was accepted by BIM Coordinator Patrick Gallego.
The judges recognised Michael for “turning uncertainty into opportunity”, praising his work in transforming fragmented information into a reliable project environment that improved safety, accuracy and delivery outcomes while building confidence across the wider team.
As part of the project’s seismic resilience upgrade, the team developed a digital twin of Hnry Stadium, integrating point cloud data, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), BIM and other digital tools into a single coordinated workflow. The result was greater certainty during delivery and a practical digital asset the client can continue to use long after construction is complete.
