Cadet visit to NZ Steel
Our Auckland cadets recently had the opportunity to visit New Zealand Steel’s Glenbrook steel mill.
Our team got a first-hand look at steel production, site operations, safety in an industrial setting, and the environmental initiatives shaping the future of local steelmaking.
A highlight was learning about the electric arc furnace due to begin operating at Glenbrook later this year. The new furnace is expected to produce locally made steel with significantly lower embodied carbon than traditional production methods, a great example of how our supply chain is responding to environmental challenges and supporting a lower-carbon future.
The visit gave our cadets valuable insight into the materials, processes and innovation behind the products we use on our projects, while also reinforcing the importance of sustainability across the construction sector.
Thanks to the team at New Zealand Steel for hosting us, and for capping off the tour with an excellent lunch!
