Community Upcycling Station open day
We had a great turnout at our second Upcycling Station Open Day, where we opened our Queenstown yard to the community.
Locals came by to pick up leftover materials from our projects – all free to use in their own DIY efforts. We heard about plans for everything from Halloween decorations and house renos to a lean-to shed built with corrugated iron and a coffee table made from old rātā timber. We found new homes for 444kg of joinery, furniture, roofing iron, timber, fixings, glues, splashback and timber shutters.
It was awesome to see materials being reused and repurposed instead of heading to landfill. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a great afternoon, and to the Queenstown Lakes District Council Waste Minimisation Community Fund for helping us to get the ball rolling.
