Future Employment Pathway update
Our Future Employment Pathway programme, delivered in partnership with the Ara Auckland Airport Jobs & Skills Hub, is now in its second year and continuing to create opportunities for young people entering the construction workforce.
This year, we’re proud to celebrate three participants who have completed the Resource Sorter – Construction course, gaining practical skills that will support future careers in construction and waste management. They have already been putting their learning into action as labourers on our Fisher & Paykel site, where the team is achieving 90%+ waste diversion from landfill.
A key strength of the Future Employment Pathway programme is its wrap-around approach, which supports participants at every step as they build confidence, gain hands-on experience, and take their first steps into the construction industry. The Labour Exchange provides employment opportunities and access to real-world site experience; Sime Group delivers the Resource Sorter course, equipping learners with practical, industry-relevant skills; we offer work experience on our construction sites where participants can apply their training; and the Ministry of Social Development’s support helps make these pathways possible.
