Gateway students at the bus depot
Our team at the new electric bus depot in Miramar has welcomed five gateway students from Scots College for an 11-week placement.
Two of the students are focused on building services and are now in their third week on site. They’ve been working alongside our subcontractors Seven Electrical and Plimmer Plumbing getting hands-on experience with tasks like installing high-level cable trays and assisting with bathroom first-fix work. It’s been great to see them build confidence in what can be a complex area of construction.
Three students in the building trades are a week further along and have been working with our trade team, contributing to practical site activities such as gutter installation, connecting framing and packing flashings for roller doors.
A big thank you to Carters and our client Greater Wellington Regional Council who sponsored toolkits and toolbelts for each student, helping them look the part from day one.
