MATES Accreditation at Te Unua Museum of Southland
Our Te Unua Museum of Southland project in Invercargill has achieved MATES Accreditation!
The team held a sitewide toolbox talk to celebrate their Accreditation, complete with a coffee and scone shout to thank the team for their efforts. MATES in Construction Otago-Southland field offices Fletcher Kaan and Cathy McLaren were on-hand to celebrate the milestone.
Senior Site Manager Iain Chapman said,
Traditionally, in male-dominated industries like ours, there has been a tendency to tough things out and not open up, but initiatives like MATES are changing that. We made a conscious decision to wait until we had reached the peak of our crew numbers on-site before working towards accreditation, so that once we did, we would have the greatest impact not only here at Te Unua, but out in the wider community too.
This achievement reflects the ongoing commitment not only of the Naylor Love site team but also of all our subcontractors who have played an active role in supporting mental health and fostering an environment where honest, often difficult conversations can happen.
