Christchurch Airport international departures

Our Canterbury Projects & Interiors team refurbished the bathrooms and built a new parent room and prayer room in the international departures lounge at Christchurch Airport. The facility features stunning full-height photographic and hand-painted murals, plus plenty of activities in the parent room to keep little ones entertained.

All our tools and materials, right down to the smallest screw, needed to go through the full airport security screening process. We also needed to arrange security clearance and swipe cards for every worker, plus additional inductions, well before they came to site. We worked closely with Airport Security, the client and our subcontractors to meet all the requirements.

The design developed as the project progressed, and our scope increased as we discovered unforeseen issues with the existing building. We suggested solutions to incorporate the additional works into the existing programme to ensure that the facilities were ready in just four months, right on time for the busy summer flight schedule.
