An updated, energy efficient centrepiece for Wellington’s art scene.

Our nine-month-long project at City Gallery Wellington involved three separate elements: main entrance upgrade, a new boiler system and leaky building remediation.

The new entrance has incorporated a combination of refurbished heritage elements in the Historic Place Category 2 building and a modern look that enhances the presence of the City Gallery from Civic Square.

The boiler upgrade took place while the gallery was closed. The outdated boiler was replaced with four small gas boilers, resulting in a 140% increase in fuel efficiency due to the enhanced controls.

The leaky building remediation involved shop drawings, long lead time order of materials, full encapsulation of the north-eastern wing of the building, removal of rotten timber and installation of Trespa cladding imported from Germany.
