Community-focused school redevelopment.

The redevelopment of Collingwood Area School created modern, flexible learning environments for 230 students while upgrading key existing facilities. The project included new teaching, library, administration and resource spaces, alongside refurbishments and extensions.

The new buildings included a 1,000m² teaching and library block and a 300m² administration and resource block. Upgrades included an extensive refurbishment of the technology block and an extension to the hall to add changing facilities.

Naylor Love’s Early Contractor Involvement helped shape the budget, staging and programme from the outset, reducing disruption to school operations and supporting a smooth delivery pathway.

With the school located around two and a half hours from our Nelson office, careful supply chain planning was essential. We worked closely with local suppliers and trades to keep materials moving and the programme on track.

The finished redevelopment includes cultural elements created by local artists, reflecting the school’s connection to its community. Consultation with the wider community and local iwi helped ensure the facilities supported local needs as well as the school’s teaching and learning goals.
