Design & Build delivery of essential clinical infrastructure.
Naylor Love was engaged to deliver the Oncology fitout within the previously unused half of the Ambulatory Building at Nelson Hospital. The project involved planning the required clinical rooms and spaces in accordance with Health New Zealand requirements and the Australasian Health Facility Guidelines, followed by the design of the supporting building services.
A key challenge was completing the work alongside the neighbouring Dialysis unit, preventing disruption to their clinical operations and maintaining essential shared services. This was achieved through detailed planning, weekly communications and proactive engagement with the Dialysis team.
The project was also delivered from a constrained site compound, requiring careful coordination of deliveries, waste management and construction activities to maintain a safe, environmentally responsible and efficient work site.
As Health New Zealand’s first design & build project in Nelson, Naylor Love engaged an architect and consultants with proven healthcare experience, including previous involvement with the facility, selected for their ability to work collaboratively through the design and delivery process.
