From our point of view it was the easiest of projects to work through construction till opening. You really made our lives here easy and we are thrilled with how the store turned out!

Foodstuffs South Island
The biggest supermarket in the South Island, delivered two months ahead of schedule.
We built the biggest supermarket in the South Island for Foodstuffs South Island. The 8,100sqm PAK’nSAVE has extensive back of house areas for the full deli, butchery and bakery, with a mezzanine accommodating offices and the plant room. The large car park holds 520 cars.
The IL3 steel and pre-cast concrete panel structure is built extra-strong so the store can serve as a local distribution hub in emergencies, with rooftop solar and a back-up generator adding resilience to the region’s infrastructure.
There were extensive roadworks in progress when our build was in full swing, making site access a challenge at times. We instituted weekly and sometimes even daily meetings with the roading contractor, ensuring that we could keep the fast-track build on schedule.
The many trees incorporated into the landscaping are planted into underground cells, protecting their root systems being compacted by vehicle movements and in turn protecting the surrounding pavement from the tree roots as they grow.
We’re proud to have delivered this much-anticipated supermarket two months ahead of schedule, a reflection of the proactive, collaborative culture we build with the client, consultants and our subcontractor team from day one.
