Luxurious gaming facility for high-rollers completed in a high-stakes live environment.

We refurbished the top two floors of the SkyCity Hotel in our latest project at SkyCity, converting them into a series of luxurious, members-only VIP gaming areas and hotel suites. This included enclosing the partly open area on the ninth floor, extending the lift shaft and building a new link bridge.

The 1,500m² space now houses a dedicated area for table gaming (Eight), lounges with 150 new gaming machines (Black & Ultra), a dedicated VIP reception area, and seven hotel suites and private rooms for high-rollers (Horizon Salon & Suites). The focus of the project was to complete all four stages in a very tight timeframe and with as little disruption as possible to the surrounding, fully operational areas.

We accessed the site through an external hoist installed as part of an elaborate nine-storey tall scaffold structure. We also used a 130T mobile crane to lift materials onto site, completing extensive temporary works to strengthen the basement roof to support it.

A working platform was engineered and built over the atrium roof to keep the area below safe as we built the link bridge. It initially covered half of the floor area, with the second half incrementally installed by progressively cantilevering out from the link bridge floor as it was built. We managed to complete the structural, demolition and lift installation works required to extend the lift up to the top floor within a live lift shaft, keeping one of the two lifts operational at all times.

With complex access and temporary works issues safely resolved, we completed the luxurious fitout to the highest quality standards, progressively handing completed areas over to the client.
