A high-quality shopping centre delivered in record time for a very happy client.
Stoneridge on Lunn is a brand new shopping centre on a high-profile corner site in Mount Wellington. The 10,290 square metre centre has 21 tenancies, including The Warehouse, Bendon Outlet, Noel Leeming and Bed Bath & Beyond as anchor tenants, and 421 parking spaces.
There were some issues early on with the brown field site, including asbestos and soft spots. The design of the gravel raft was changed to limit excavation, and we worked closely with the client and their civil contractor to limit programme delays.
The single-storey pre-cast concrete and steel buildings have a Colorsteel roof and slab on grade concrete foundations. Laying the 6,000m² post-tensioned slab for The Warehouse store was a highlight for our team, with around 150 truck-loads of concrete arriving over two consecutive nights in a carefully coordinated sequence. We needed dust-free, still, dry conditions for the pour, so we worked closely with the roofing contractor to get the roof on early, going back later to install the clear lights and insulation.
With the shopping centre opening in stages between May and November 2020, we kept the tenants, their fit-out contractors and the public safe and informed as building works continued by implementing particularly stringent gate controls and ensuring that the tenants and their contractors received regular updates.
