Queenstown Resource Sorting Area
Our Central Otago team have cracked the issue of where to put all the bins on smaller sites by bringing waste back to a dedicated resource sorting area at our Queenstown yard.
One of the big challenges of construction waste management on smaller sites is where to put the bins – up to 10 at a time for all the waste streams we’re separating so we can achieve our goal of diverting at least 70% of construction waste away from landfill across the motu. Our Central Otago team do lots of smaller fitout and refurbishment jobs, sometimes in remote areas, and they’ve cracked the space issue by bringing waste back to a dedicated resource sorting area at our Queenstown yard.
Meticulously organised with clear signage, beauty may be in the eye of the beholder but this is what we love to see!
The team even open their resource sorting area to the public a couple days a year, offering excess materials for DIY jobs and community projects. They found new homes for 444kg of joinery, furniture, roofing iron, timber, fixings, glues, splashback, timber shutters and more at their latest open day.
