Recycling Week 2026
It’s Recycling Week, so a good time to celebrate a number we’re pretty proud of.
In the last 12 months, 87.4% of waste from our construction sites was diverted from landfill. That’s more than 23,500 tonnes, equivalent to the weight of more than 13,500 average family cars!
And this doesn’t even include another 48,000 tonnes of excavated material. Because soil and rock are heavy and often readily reused or relocated, excluding them gives us a more meaningful picture of how well we’re managing everyday construction waste.
It comes down to lots of small decisions on our projects: separating materials properly, finding opportunities for reuse, sharing materials with the community, using recycling streams where they’re available, and importantly, reporting where everything actually goes.
And we definitely can’t take all the credit. Our waste providers, recycling partners and suppliers offering take-back schemes are a huge part of making this possible.
This week we’ll share a few of those schemes and the people helping make them happen. Because while 87.4% is worth celebrating, we’re still interested in what we can do with the other 12.6%.
