Timber waste study presentation
We shared the findings from the C&D Timber Waste Study at the WasteMINZ Conference earlier this month.
Hannah Kelly from Tonkin + Taylor and Naylor Love Project Manager Gareth Salisbury co-presented the findings, sharing insights from a multi-year investigation across three construction sites including our Youth Hub Christchurch project. The study quantified timber waste at each stage of construction and gathered on-the-ground insights from carpenters, apprentices and project teams.
With timber accounting for a third of construction and demolition waste going to landfill, this research highlights the urgent need for better material management and circular solutions in the construction sector.
A big thanks to all involved in the study and to WasteMINZ for the opportunity to share this important mahi. We’re proud to be part of a collaborative effort driving change across the industry.
