Community Upcycling Station

We’ve set up a beautifully organised resource sorting station at our Queenstown yard, which we open to the public to pick up building materials for their projects.

The resource sorting area makes it easier to recycle, reuse and donate materials, all aimed at diverting construction waste away from landfill. This allows projects that don’t have space for their own skips to sort their waste at the yard, allowing us to meet our ambitious waste reduction targets on every project, large and small. We can also keep a close eye on the waste we’re generating and spot new reduction / reuse / recycling opportunities.

Several times a year, we open the resource sorting area for Community Upcycling Station Open Days, inviting schools, community groups and the public to help themselves to building materials for their DIY projects. This ensures that excess building materials are reused or repurposed instead of heading to landfill, and it’s always great to hear what people have planned for the supplies they choose!

We are enormously grateful to the Queenstown Lakes District Council Waste Minimisation Community Fund for supporting this initiative.
