Environmental Team profiles: Hayley
Introducing our Queenstown environmental champion, Hayley Stockdale.
As a Project Manager, Hayley has spent years working alongside subcontractors and suppliers to improve waste diversion, and she’s seen a real shift. What was once a hard sell is now simply the way things are done. No extra cost, no drama. Our project waste dashboards have helped drive that change, with teams motivated by clear targets, measurable results, and a bit of healthy competition.
But working in a small town brings its own challenges, particularly limited recycling options. Historically, that’s made waste minimisation harder to achieve in Queenstown. That’s changing fast. What started as a single mixed recycling bin on site has grown into up to 15 different waste streams. That progress hasn’t happened by accident; it reflects Hayley’s persistence, strong partnerships, and close collaboration with our waste management partners and local environmental groups like WAO.
One of Hayley’s innovations has been opening the resource sorting area in our Queenstown yard to the community several times a year, inviting people to take off-cuts and materials for their own projects. This initiative has already diverted hundreds of kilograms of building material from landfill.
It’s a reminder that meaningful change doesn’t come from one big idea. It’s built step by step, stream by stream, and conversation by conversation.
