NIWA office fitout

NIWA gave our Auckland Projects & Interiors team an interesting challenge: completely transform their new office space to a tight, immovable six-month deadline. We needed to move fast, with the contract awarded days before Christmas and construction works commencing first thing in the new year.

With NIWA taking over the ground and first floor in a busy office building, we observed stringent noise restrictions, scheduling noisy work and deliveries outside business hours but not overnight out of respect for the hotel guests next door. We kept in close contact with the other tenants and the neighbours, arranging alternate access through shared spaces and maintaining shared life safety systems throughout to minimise disruption.

A complex services arrangement across several buildings was another challenge, with services isolations and commissioning requiring notification and approvals from multiple parties.

Despite the constraints, out team’s unwavering commitment to delivering quality finishes resulted in a beautiful outcome. The offices feature a stunning water-look bulkhead in the reception area, a combination of meeting rooms, open plan work areas and breakout spaces, kitchens on both levels, and a media studio used for weather forecast broadcasts.

With the office fitout successfully completed on time and on budget, we negotiated a second stage of work at NIWA’s new Auckland office, a laboratory fitout.
