An award-winning IL4 level hospital facility built on a challenging site to a tight deadline.

Manaaki by Mercy is a 754m² purpose-built hospital day stay facility incorporating two operating theatres/procedure rooms, associated recovery and auxiliary areas over two stories, along with a chemotherapy suite.

Located on a quiet one-way residential street, noise control, site access and traffic management were carefully managed by our site team throughout the build process. The narrow, steep 954m² site and tight ten month programme meant that a large number of tradespeople needed to work in close proximity, requiring careful scheduling and health & safety management.

Another challenge encountered during the project was squeezing highly complex medical services into a domestic-scaled building, which our services team pulled out all the stops to achieve.

Despite being an effective, efficient, IL4 level fully self-contained hospital building, the high-quality internal finishes crafted by our skilled carpenters ensures that the clinic is warm and welcoming for patients.

The project was completed on budget and right on time for Mercy Hospital’s 80th anniversary celebrations, the latest in a series of major projects Naylor Love has successfully delivered for Mercy Hospital since 1969.
