Meet Paola
In honour of Women in Construction Week – meet Paola, our Auckland Design & Engineering Manager!
Paola has worked for Naylor Love for more than 13 years, starting as our first Planner before being appointed Planning Lead, and now managing our Auckland Planning & Programming, Design Management and BIM teams.
Paola was introduced to the construction industry early, tagging along with her dad to assist with electrical installations alongside his students in Chile. When it came to deciding on a career, she didn’t want to be stuck at a desk and was keen to have plenty of variety and interaction with people. Having studied construction engineering, planning turned out to be a perfect fit, with the opportunity to contribute to projects at every stage, working collaboratively to identify and solve tricky buildability issues as well as taking care of the programme.
Contrary to construction’s image as a blokey industry where women struggle to be heard, Paola has found that her expertise and contribution have always been valued both on site and in the office. She rates the people and range of projects as the best things about working at Naylor Love and appreciates the family-friendly environment and the support she received during a personal health challenge.
Outside work, Paola enjoys early morning gym sessions, jewellery making and spending time with her family. She has already taken her daughter to watch project milestones from a safe distance outside the construction site, with crane takedowns proving especially popular!
