2026 Timber Design Awards
Fantastic to see some of our engineered timber projects celebrated at the 2026 Timber Design Awards!
Last held in 2023, the awards celebrate the best in timber design and construction and provide a national platform to recognise outstanding achievement in the use of timber across the built environment.
AUT Tukutuku was the category winner and Te Hurihanga ō Rangatahi / Youth Hub Christchurch was highly commended in the Abodo Sustainable Development Award, for the use of timber and wood-based products in projects that are achieving low environmental impact and enhancing New Zealand’s unique culture, society and environment.
AUT Tukutuku was also highly commended in the Red Stag Mid-Rise Building Design Award (over 3 levels) category, showcasing the built form and innovation in maximising the valuable characteristics and properties of timber in a multi-storey context.
Te Whare Whakatere Ashburton Library and Civic Centre was highly commended in the Techlam Public & Community Building Award, celebrating the use of timber in public buildings—such as schools, libraries, community centres, or government facilities—where design, accessibility, and civic value are paramount.
Many thanks to the hosts Timber Unlimited, the sponsors, judges, and the fantastic team who collaborated with us on these landmark projects!
