Electrify Queenstown
Our National Environmental & Sustainability Manager Emma Foulkes, Senior Project Manager Hayley Stockdale and Central Otago Regional Director John Seely attended the annual Electrify Queenstown conference.
As part of our journey toward carbon net zero by 2050, events like this are a valuable opportunity to learn, connect and align with industry leaders driving real change.
A key highlight was hearing from Lana Cruickshank, CEO of The Lightfoot Initiative and Ross Copland, Director and CEO of Southern Infrastructure Limited, during a panel discussion on the future of electric transport. As Ross put it,
Electricity is a phenomenal technology – all we need to do is use it better.
Ross also shared insights into the current work underway on the Queenstown Cable Car. We’re proud to be partnering with his team on this groundbreaking low-carbon transport infrastructure project on an ECI basis.
We’re also excited to be aligned with The Lightfoot Initiative, signing up to their Active8 Queenstown Lakes workplace travel programme.
As Mike Casey (Electric Cherries) said,
Let’s run on NZ-made power.
– a message that speaks to the momentum building across the region. We’re energised by the role we can play in supporting this shift, helping to drive practical change as Queenstown progresses toward becoming the world’s first fully electric destination.
