We had the pleasure of welcoming MATES in Construction field officers Richie and Slade to our Women’s Prison Modular Site and our Christchurch office for General Awareness Training seminars.
The seminars educated us on the statistics of suicide in the New Zealand construction sector, how we can notice signs, and what we can do to help prevent it. Both seminars had a great turnout, with Naylor Love staff and subcontractors participating and supporting the cause.
Richie and Slade encouraged everyone to look further into the programme by becoming a Connector, which is further education on keeping someone in crisis safe and connecting them with professional help. We’re pleased to say that a number of our team signed up for this training, which will be held at a later date.
We hope that this training has encouraged and educated our staff to be able to reach out to one another and to know when to ask ‘are you okay?’ A massive thank you to Slade and Richie from MATES!
